It’s best to buy a Day Pass ($4.50) when you get on the first bus — assuming you’ll be making a same-day round-trip. Santa Cruz Metro doesn’t have transfers.
You will use the Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District Route 71 bus to get from Santa Cruz to the Watsonville Transit Center. Santa Cruz Metro has clean, comfortable buses. You can bring food on board.
Route 71 buses leave from Lane 4 of Pacific Station (Metro Center). This lane is on the far side of the transit center. Be alert, because the bus can stop anywhere along the lane. Check the destination sign or listen for the automated announcement to make sure that you are getting on a 71 bus. Avoid all other buses.
Watsonville Transit Center is the last stop. The automated announcement system will announce it.
You will use the Santa Cruz Metro Route 75 bus to get from the Watsonville Transit Center to Home Depot.
Route 75 buses leave from Lane 2 of the Watsonville Transit Center. This lane is on the near side of the transit center. Be alert, because the bus can stop anywhere along the lane. Check the destination sign or listen for the automated announcement to make sure that you are getting on a 75 bus. Avoid all other buses.
You will be getting off on South Green Valley Road, immediately after Loma Prieta Avenue. Look for Home Depot on the left side of the street.
There are no specific attractions near Home Depot.
When you are ready to return to Santa Cruz, go to the bus stop at the edge of the Home Depot parking lot. This stop is opposite the one you got off at earlier.

It’s not necessary to plan your Home Depot shopping trip in advance. The 71 bus runs every 15 minutes to an hour and the 75 bus, every hour. In case you do have to wait, Pacific Station (Metro Center) and the Watsonville Transit Center have indoor waiting areas, restrooms, water fountains, telephones, and food vendors. The bus stop at Home Depot has a shelter.
To minimize connection time in Watsonville, try to pick a 71 bus that leaves Pacific Station (Metro Center) 45 minutes after the hour (schedules accurate as of February, 2005).
